It didn’t take long for Sheridan Fire and Rescue crews to put out a gasoline fire on the city’s north side, but things could have gone smoother had a motorist not decided to drive through the scene.

According to a media release, at around 10:50am on Tuesday (February 8th), crews were called out to the 1200 block of Skeels Street for a report of a gasoline fire.

When they arrived on scene about 5 minutes later they found a large, black plume of smoke and fire burning in tires and a salvage vehicle.

Firefighters were able to attach a hose to a nearby fire hydrant so they would have an uninterrupted water supply.

They had the situation under control in about six minutes and the fire was extinguished about 10 minutes later.

Police officers set up a perimeter to limit vehicle and pedestrian traffic, however one motorist drove through the scene and over the fire hose.

Sheridan Fire-Rescue would like to remind the public that no one should drive through an incident scene, pass an emergency vehicle or drive over any fire hoses.
