Salary Increase Ordinance Approved on Second Reading

An ordinance to increase the salary of Sheridan City Council members continues to move forward. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
The Sheridan City Council is one step away from raising the salary of council members from the current $500 a month, to $1,000 a month. Second reading of an ordinance raising the salary was approved on a vote of 6 to 1 Monday night. Councilor Aaron Linden, prior to the Council’s vote, provided a brief history of the council’s pay.
Linden further explained the cost breakdown of raising the salary.
Councilor Kristen Jennings voted against the ordinance on first reading and on Monday night.
The ordinance to raise the monthly salary, if approved on third and final reading, would not take effect until January 1, 2023 and would only apply to newly elected councilors and not those currently serving on the Council.
