The Amie Holt Care Center at the Johnson County Healthcare Center is having trouble with the numbers of CNAs or Certified Nursing Assistants, and that in turn is leading to a necessary reduction in residents they can care for.

That is according to CEO Luke Senden, who updated the hospital board of trustees at their recent meeting.

Senden said there has been discussion concerning the care center’s staffing issues, and that they had recently dropped down to 32 residents and lost another two CNAs.

Senden was asked if CNAs from other areas of the facility could be moved to the care center to help, but he reported there weren’t any available.

Board Chairman Dr. Mark Schueler said there were a number of employees that were granted religious exemptions to the vaccine mandate, which he said was encouraging.
