Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office seeking Detention Center deputies

While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program, Sheridan County Detention Center Lieutenant Charlie Gibbons gave listeners an update on the center.
Over the last year the detention center deputies have changed the procedures and the techniques used to control inmates who may become physical, according to Gibbons.
The technique is a form of Jujutsu and is utilized by other law enforcement agencies. Through the use of holds and pressure points, the technique allows deputies to remain in control while agitated inmates become worn down and become too exhausted to continue.
This form of custody and control over the inmate decreases the possibility of injury for the inmate or deputy.
The detention center is also looking to fill two positions, Gibbons said. Successful applicants will undergo training, both local and at the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy in Douglas.
