SkyWest Airlines will officially begin air service at the Sheridan County Airport on Sunday, January 12th after an airport lease agreement between the county and the airline was approved by the county commission at their Tuesday meeting.

Airport Manager John Stopka said the agreement commences on that date and will run for two years in conjunction with the agreement between the State of Wyoming and the airline.

Lease amounts were also in the agreement, which were about $47,000 annually for the airline office suite and roughly $23,000 annually for the secure hold room, with both lease amounts increasing 3% each year during the term of the agreement.

Other fees were also spelled out, as well as responsibilities of the lessee and the airport for security, firefighting, and snow removal policies which are standard in these types of contracts, according to Stopka.

The first flight of SkyWest Airlines will depart the Sheridan County Airport for Denver International Airport on Sunday.
