Sheridan County adds another 21 confirmed positive cases to the 2,842 total positive case count since the pandemic began.

According to Sheridan County COVID-19 Public Information Officer Jennifer Graves, there are 121 confirmed positive cases of the virus active in the county and 24 probable positive cases.

Two weeks ago leadership at Sheridan Memorial Hospital expressed concern at the rate of hospitalizations this particular surge is requiring. There are currently 16 patients hospitalized suffering from the virus.

COVID-19 has claimed the lives of 33 Sheridan residents.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention list Sheridan County’s level of community transmission as HIGH. According to the Wyoming Department of Health, Sheridan County’s vaccination rate is 37%. To date, no vaccinated individuals have required hospitalization in Sheridan County.

According to the CDC, evidence has shown that breakthrough infections happen in only a small proportion of people who are fully vaccinated, even with the Delta variant. However, preliminary evidence suggests that fully vaccinated people who do become infected with the Delta variant can spread the virus to others.

To reduce their risk of becoming infected with the Delta variant and potentially spreading it to others the CDC recommends that fully vaccinated people apply the following practices in an effort to prevent those vaccinated individuals from spreading the disease to immunocompromised residents.

Wear a mask in public indoor settings if they are in an area of substantial or high transmission.

Fully vaccinated people might choose to mask regardless of the level of transmission, particularly if they or someone in their household is immunocompromised or at increased risk for severe disease, or if someone in their household is unvaccinated. People who are at increased risk for severe disease include older adults and those who have certain medical conditions, such as diabetes, overweight or obesity, and heart conditions.

Get tested if experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.

If you come into close contact with someone with COVID-19 get tested 3-5 days after the date of your exposure and wear a mask in public indoor settings for 14 days after exposure or until a negative test result.

Isolate if they have tested positive for COVID-19 in the prior 10 days or are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.

You mean that someone(s) may be deceiving the public.
Surely that could never happen. They wouldn’t do that to us.
