Palmer Rezone Approved By Sheridan County

A rezone of property located just off of Coffeen Avenue south of Sheridan has been approved by a split vote of the Sheridan County Commission.

The 11.7-acre property is owned by Kevin and Jodi Palmer, who wish to rezone from (UR) Urban Residential to (C-1) Commercial to allow the construction of “indoor and outdoor storage facilities on the property” according to the application.

Dave Engels, with Engineering Associates, spoke to the commission on behalf of the applicants.

According to discussions, commissioners were concerned with the rezone to develop a commercial business, and also about building in the flood plain of Little Goose Creek.

The Planning & Zoning Commission voted not to recommend the approval of the rezone, citing commercial use as not being identified for this location from the Future Land Use Map.

Ultimately the commission approved the rezone on a split 2-1 vote, with Commission Chair Nick Siddle voting against.
