Second Degree Murder charges have been filed against 15-year-old Christian L. Torres for allegedly killing his father, 47-year-old Edgar Jones. Just before 4 am on July 28, the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office received a call that law enforcement near Hardin, Montana contacted Torres, who stated to a State Trooper that he had killed his father in Dayton. SCSO Deputies responded to a home on Main Street in Dayton and found Jones deceased inside the residence. The cause of death appeared to be from a single gunshot wound.

Sheridan County Attorney Dianna Bennett said one count of Second Degree Murder has been filed against Torres and he is being held in a juvenile detention facility in Montana and will be extradited to Wyoming, where he will be charged as an adult. Second Degree Murder is punishable by not less than 20 years and up to life in prison. The investigation remains active and is being investigated by the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office, Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Sheridan County Coroner’s Office.
