Buffalo EMS Letter Outlines Concerns Over Land Purchase

Buffalo Emergency Medical Services (EMS) has submitted a letter to the Johnson County Rural Health Care District Board (JCRHCD) and to the public to voice concerns they have over the proposed purchase of land for an ambulance barn, it’s location, and the intent of the JCRHCD in pushing for the ambulance barn.

Dave Harness, Director of the Buffalo EMS, in the letter said although he was not opposed to the idea of a new ambulance barn, concerns he has include spending taxpayer money in these lean times, the proposed location on North Bypass Road, and the possibility of the board using the new facility, once built, to attract another ambulance operator to replace Buffalo EMS.

Harness would like to see a traffic study performed on the site before any plan is implemented.

The JCRHCD Board, in their May meeting, voted to purchase land owned by and adjacent to Johnson County Fire District #1, for $80,000 for a half an acre of land to house the future building.
