The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking Public comment on two proposed regulation changes.

One proposed change in the Sheridan Region would allow non-motorized watercraft on Ranchester Pond. Currently, no watercraft are allowed.

Another proposed change would extend the catch and release area on the North Tongue River. According to Game and Fish Public Information Specialist Christina Schmidt, current regulation is catch and release upstream from the mouth of Bull Creek in Sheridan County.

The proposed new regulation would extend the special regulation area 4.6 miles downstream to begin instead at U.S. Forest Service Road 15, or Burgess Road, in Sheridan County.

Schmidt told listeners of Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse this is in response to documented declines in fish populations in the North Tongue River.

The full written proposals for all regulation changes can be found online here, under the Get Involved, Public Meetings tab. Interested parties can read the draft versions of the proposals as well as ‘statement of reasons’ to explain the change and why it is being proposed

Public comment will be accepted in writing or online through June 4 for proposed watercraft and fishing regulations and can be sent through the Game and Fish webpage or through the mail to the Game and Fish Sheridan Regional Office, 700 Valley View Dr, Sheridan, WY 82801.
