Sheridan Woman Sentenced on Amended Charge

A sentencing hearing was held Tuesday in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan for 23-year-old Victoria Ruiz. Last year in October, Ruiz was arrested and charged with one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance With Intent to Deliver- Marijuana. In February at a change of plea hearing, Ruiz, pursuant to terms of a plea agreement reached with the state, pleaded “no contest” to an amended charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance.

District Court Judge John Fenn, at Tuesday’s hearing, accepted the terms of the plea agreement and entered a deferred prosecution and ordered Ruiz to serve three years of supervised probation. Judge Fenn also ordered Ruiz to pay $375 in various court costs and fees, which she must pay at a rate of at least $35 a month beginning June 1.
