Sheridan County commissioners have authorized an agreement with the federal government that could lead to improvements to Red Grade Road.

Action came during the commissioners’ meeting earlier this week. County Engineer Ken Muller explained what the agreement will do.

The project is part of the Wyoming Federal Lands Access Program, and Muller said the agreement doesn’t obligate either the county or the federal government to move forward with the project. What the agreement does, he said, is get the ball rolling on development of Red Grade Road.

In a related matter, commissioners approved a Federal Highway Administration Federal Lands Highway Funds transfer agreement to finance the Red Grade Road development project. Muller said the federal government will provide $50,000, and the county’s share of funding will be $10,000.

Muller said the funds will be used to develop a plan for the project. Muller said there will be a public component to developing a plan for Red Grade Road.
