Skiing Accident Prompts Fundraiser Accounts for Buffalo Family
A fundraiser account and a GoFundMe page have been set up for the Roche family of Buffalo, that are facing major medical bills due to a recent skiing accident.
Ten year-old Aiyana Roche was skiing at Meadowlark Ski Area west of Buffalo on February 22nd, when she struck a tree and suffered multiple injuries, according to her father, Ryan Roche.
Aiyana was originally taken by ambulance to the Johnson County Healthcare Center where they performed x-rays of her leg where they found the bone fractures, and a scan of her neck to make sure there were no issues there.
She was then then transferred to Sheridan Memorial Hospital where she received a CT scan of her neck and more scans of her leg, but during a full scan of her spine they found the compression fractures and the hematoma on her spine.
The hematoma prompted the Life Flight from Sheridan to Denver’s Children’s Hospital, who is equipped to handle those types of injuries.
Once in Denver, Ryan explained what Aiyana endured there.
Aiyana was in the Denver Children’s Hospital until Saturday, February 27th, when she was sent home to recover.
The family faces trips back to Denver every couple of weeks for doctors to perform checkups and monitor her progress, and she has a long road of recovery ahead of her, according to her dad, who is just happy she is home.
