Johnson County saw an increase in COVID cases late last week, and public health spoke about why there has been an increase after weeks of no cases in the county.

Robin King, Public Health Emergency Response Coordinator, reported at the EOC briefing last Tuesday, that there was one COVID-positive case in the hospital in Buffalo, but by Thursday, there were 6 new cases reported.

King said there is no specific data yet on what vaccinations have done to the rate of COVID infections in the county, state, and country, but a significant number of people in the county have been vaccinated so far.

She said although there appears to be an increase in the number of people hesitant to get the vaccine, it is important for people to do their own research from credible sources, such as the Center for Disease Control

(CDC) before deciding whether or not to get vaccinated.
