Johnson County PHO on Masks After Vaccinations
So now that you’ve received your COVID-19 vaccinations, will it still be necessary to wear a mask or face covering in public?
That question was asked of Johnson County Public Health Officer Mark Schueler during this week’s EOC briefing.
Schueler said probably not, but it still may be a good idea, and explained why.
Schueler summarized by saying he thinks medically, wearing a mask is no longer necessary after being vaccinated, but from a social standpoint it may be the right thing to do.
He said, “that’s not really the message you get from the government, (it’s) more of a personal perspective on the issue.”

The right thing to do from a “social standpoint”? I’m glad they’re finally coming around to admitting that you should wear a mask because everyone else thinks you should, not because it’s necessary.
