Coronavirus cases continued to increase significantly in Wyoming in June, according to a story posted on Sheridan Media’s website on June 26.

On that date, the state reported 36 new laboratory-confirmed cases, the largest single-day total seen in the state since the first case was reported on March 11 in Sheridan County.

As of June 25, Teton, Freemont and Uinta counties had the highest rate of confirmed cases per 100,000 residents.

Governor Mark Gordon and Wyoming’s Department of Health reminded citizens that the simple steps meant to limit the spread of the disease were more important than ever. Those included wearing face coverings in public settings where it wasn’t possible to stay physically apart.

State Health Officer Dr. Alexia Harrist also reminded people to respect isolation or quarantine orders if they were told they’d been exposed to the COVID-19 virus.

Sheridan Media will begin our look back at this and other stories that affected our lives during the past year on Tuesday.
