JCHC Staff: Construction Adds to COVID Concerns

Published

on

The recent increase in COVID-19 cases in the state and in Johnson County have staff at the Johnson County Healthcare Center concerned about possibly being overwhelmed with patients, especially with gatherings for the holidays.

That possibility is a concern itself, but adding to the everyday stress is construction at the healthcare center, according to Heidi Huntley, floor nurse and ICU co-supervisor at the JCHC.

She spoke about the issue during a recent interview.

Huntley said the facility only has so many nurses, and if only two are out due to COVID, that’s six shifts a week that need to somehow be covered.

She said, “it would be so easy for us to become overrun.”
