Law Enforcement Releases Statement on Mask Mandate
In a joint release to the media, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and the Buffalo Police Department addressed the recent mask mandate enacted by Governor Mark Gordon.
The release said, in part, “since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic it has always been our goal to help our community members and law enforcement staff to understand the health and safety guidelines that have been recommended by the Center of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) or by Public Health Orders from the Johnson County Health Officer. We encourage anyone who has questions about the health orders to personally read the order themselves.”
The release continued, saying Johnson County Law Enforcement’s philosophy of enforcing the current Public Health Order relating to “Face Coverings” will continue to be ongoing education efforts and to seek voluntary compliance.
Johnson County Law Enforcement staff, Deputies and Police Officers will set the positive example and adhere to the Public Health Order, and will continue to respond and investigate calls for service from business owners who report disputes or disturbances related to the face mask requirement.
