Monday deadline for superintendent applications

Monday is the deadline for applicants interested in filling the superintendent’s position in Sheridan County School District 2.

Craig Dougherty, current superintendent of the district, announced in September that he will be resigning from the position at the end of June.

According to a timeline approved by the district’s trustees in October, applicants will be screened from Tuesday through Thursday next week, and candidates will be selected for interviews on Dec. 11.

Selected candidates will be interviewed on Jan. 25 and 26, and a community forum for the candidates will be held on Jan. 26 starting at 6:30 p.m.

A special board meeting has been scheduled on Jan. 28 for trustees to discuss the candidates and offer the position to one of them. The chosen candidate would be approved at the trustees’ regular board meeting on Feb. 1, and would officially start his or her duties with the district on July 1.
