Pat BlairThe Sheridan Memorial Hospital Foundation’s annual run/walk – The Link-Partners in Pink – has gone virtual this month.
To encourage participation and keep our community safe, according to a news release from the Foundation, instead of a one-day event, an online month-long event has been developed. Held as a fundraiser for the Welch Cancer Center, registration is $40 and includes a T-shirt.
Ada Kirven, who’s the Foundation’s director of donor relations, said funds raised this year will go to the cancer center’s Comfort Care and patient care programs.
Those who register for the run/walk can pick up their T-shirts from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday at Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Kirven said the drive-through process will be fun and easy. All people have to do is come to the north parking lot outside the hospital cafeteria.
She said Link volunteers will be on hand, and people can also register there for the event.
Kirven added Friday is also Wear Pink Day, and the Foundation is encouraging everyone in the community to put on pink for cancer awareness.
Kirven said this year marks the 12th annual run/walk to raise awareness and funding for cancer screening and early detective of all kinds of cancer. She added the event is a beautiful way to encourage those who face cancer, and The Link really has become a fall tradition for the community.
