Electronic Referral Coming for Tobacco Cessation

A collaborative effort between numerous entities in Johnson County will soon bring easier referrals for healthcare providers to help their patients with tobacco cessation.

Community Prevention Specialist Bill Hawley spoke to the Prevention Council about the new program at their recent meeting.

Hawley explained that currently, healthcare providers must write out and submit referrals to the Wyoming Quit Tobacco Program by fax, but with this new system, it will be one click to refer their patients.

The program is expected to be implemented sometime before the end of the year.
