BPD to Receive Funding from Prevention Council

At their regular meeting on Tuesday, the Johnson County Prevention Council discussed their funding contribution to the Buffalo Police Department for DUI Patrols, party patrols and compliance checks during the upcoming holiday season.

Bill Hawley, Community Prevention Specialist with the JCPC, gave more details on the uses for the funding.

Hawley said Chief Carder normally goes before the city council to ask for approval to accept the grants, which has been done now for over 10 years.

The amount of the funding is $6,500 for overtime pay for part patrols by law enforcement; $2,000 for alcohol compliance checks; $4,080 for DUI enforcement; and $4,000 for tobacco compliance checks, according to information provided by Hawley..
