Busy Suicide Prevention Week Continues in Buffalo
Mayor Shane Schrader proclaimed September 6th through the 11th as “Suicide Prevention Week” in Buffalo, and events have been scheduled throughout the week to bring attention to the suicide problem.
The Suicide Prevention Coalition of Johnson County will offer events, with the main happening, the 132 Event, today in Crazy Woman Square, to coincide with World Suicide Prevention Day.
A gathering at noon {will draw/drew} attention to the 132 lives lost every day to suicide in this country.
A resource and sharing table is also available throughout the day in the square, and will continue on Friday.
Also scheduled for Friday is a prayer service led by Fr. Doug Wasinger in the square beginning at 12:15.
He discusses the service and what he hopes to accomplish.
In addition to the events this week, there will be an Alliance For Hope family wellness event at Harold Jarrard Park in Kaycee on Sunday, September 13th beginning at 4pm.
There will be games, yoga, door prizes, information, and food available for purchase from the Outlaw Chuck Wagon food truck.
