Dan Odasz, with Plan One Architects, gave a presentation to the Johnson County Healthcare Center’s Board of Trustees concerning a project that will be funded through the State Loan and Investments Board, or SLIB, with money from the Federal CARES Act for COVID-19 capital improvements projects.

JCHC CEO Sean McCallister explained more about Odasz’s presentation.

Odasz said the JCHC was one of about 99 applicants for the funding, and was approved for a $3.8 million grant which must be spent by the end of 2020.

The major project selected will be in the older part of the original hospital, with the bulk of the funding going to replacing air handlers with five new ones, along with the mechanical systems that will be needed for the upcoming reconstruction of the older section of the hospital.

Three small remodel projects will be done in the acute care waiting room, surgical patient recovery area, and in the sterilization area, which were chosen because they can also be completed by the end of the year.

Odell Construction was selected as the project construction manager.
