JCHC Gets $600K Trust Settlement

The Johnson County Healthcare Center has been named as a beneficiary of the Wilbur Holt Trust settlement.
During their August meeting, it was announced that the healthcare center had been awarded nearly $600,000 from the trust which is an equivalent amount that was awarded to the City of Buffalo.
According to the trust, the funds are earmarked for capital improvements at the facility, and not used for operating expenses.
During the meeting, the board of trustees discussed the possibilities for the funds, ranging from immediate capital improvements to transferring the funds to the Hospital Foundation, to banking the funds to accrue interest for future use.
The board decided to allow CEO Sean McCallister to discuss the options with facility attorney Ben Kirven to review the wishes of the Trust to determine the options available to the healthcare center.
The board is expected to revisit the issue at their meeting in September.
