During the quarterly meeting of the Johnson County Board of Health Tuesday, Public Health Nurse Trisha Thompson updated the board on the latest information concerning COVID-19 in the county.

Thompson said there was a report of a new case Monday evening, and that the person should be done with isolation on August 20th.

As of Tuesday there were 10 people in isolation, but one was expected to come off of isolation that day.

She reported that public health officials are trying to determine how to administer flu shots this year, and she talked about some options being looked at.

Thompson said the healthcare industry is hopeful that a vaccine for COVID-19 will be ready and available for the public in March or April of 2021.

Finally, she said Personal Protective Equipment, or PPEs, are still available, but only a fraction of the ordered equipment is being received locally because of high demand.
