An Ordinance amending city code has passed a second reading by the Buffalo City Council, and requires only a third reading to become in effect.

The Ordinance pertains to the sale of tobacco and electronic cigarettes to minors.

Mayor Shane Schrader explained during the first reading that the Ordinance will raise the legal age for sale of the items to an individual from 18 to 21 years of age within the city limits.

According to discussions by the council, the change will make city code in compliance with state law once the Ordinance has three readings.

The third reading on the Ordinance is expected at the September 1st council meeting.
