Story Women’s Club to host 51st Annual Turkey Dinner

The Story Woman’s Club will host its 51st annual Turkey Dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, at its clubhouse in Story. 

The Story Women’s Clubhouse serves as the community center. The clubhouse is used as the meeting place for the Woman’s Club, the Garden and Lions Clubs as well as a regular arts and crafts gathering and on Tuesdays, it serves as the location for the Senior Lunch. The Women’s Club also provides memorial dinners for anyone in the community with no need to be a member or resident of Story.

Story Woman’s Club members Joan Griffin and Sue Shrum appeared on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse and said the annual community dinner not only brings together people from all over the region but serves as the primary fundraiser for the Story Women’s Club.

Proceeds will help cover the clubhouse’s annual operating and maintenance expenses, which total approximately $12,000 to $15,000 each year. The dinner will feature turkey with traditional trimmings and approximately 50 homemade pies of many varieties prepared by club members. 

The Club anticipates serving between 300 and 500 meals to guests from Story, Banner, Sheridan, Buffalo and other surrounding communities. 

Admission is $20 for adults, $10 for children ages 6 through 10 and free for children 5 and younger. 

For those who cannot stay but wish to take home a turkey dinner, you can call ahead and the members of the club will prepare takeout dinners. Takeout dinner orders will not be accepted later than 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3. Call 307-217-1903 to make your order.
