Randy Atkins expects to see a very high level of activity for Ramaco Carbon in the next 60 days.

Atkins is chairman and CEO of the Sheridan-based company which, earlier this month, received approval from Wyoming’s Department of Environmental Quality to start mining operations at the Brook Mine north of Sheridan.

Atkins is hopeful that Ramaco will be able to move into the iCAM building in October.

He said that will allow Ramaco to consolidate a number of offices the company has around Sheridan, including the 3D printing operation, research equipment that’s in yet another building and still another building that currently houses Ramaco’s headquarters. Atkins said at least some of the offices will be moved to the iCAM facility.

Atkins said coal from the Brook Mine will be used initially for research activities as Ramaco pursues the use of coal to provide carbon for 3D printing. The company is currently involved in five research grants with the U.S. Department Department of Energy that could ultimately lead to the use of coal-derived carbon to create products.
