Sheridan County is requesting the City Council approve a resolution that would essentially vacate a portion of the Brooks Street right-of-way, located in the Kilbourne Addition, between West Whitney Street and West Burkitt Street, adjacent to the Sheridan County Courthouse. The request was recently discussed by the Council at their most recent study session. City Public Works Director Lane Thompson.

Sheridan County Commissioners recently gave their approval to apply for a WYDOT TAP grant to perform a feasibility study that would provide a more in depth review and design a plan for the improvements to the portion of Brooks Street the County is requesting the vacation for. The County is also requesting that the City leave the three-way stop in place at the corner of West Burkitt and South Brooks, as County officials feel that the three-way has increased the safety of the pedestrian crossing, slowed traffic, and allowed for a smooth traffic flow through the intersection. The City Council is expected to consider the vacation request at an upcoming meeting.
