Buffalo Police Chief Sean Bissett, at the last city council meeting, reported that his department had applied for a grant to help in gap funding for the city/county 9-1-1 system.

At a meeting last month, Bissett said the funds will help pay for physical and digital software, licensing, and equipment needed to operate the 9-1-1 system.

Bissett also reported that in May, there were 2,259 calls into the dispatch center, with 698 incidents responded to, resulting in seven arrests.

He said the department is currently gearing up and getting ready for the summer season and planning for upcoming events like the semi-quincentennial, Longmire Days and the Johnson County Fair and Rodeo.

He added everyone is expecting a busy summer.
