Governor Gordon Signs Executive Order Establishing the Wyoming Data Center Development Framework
Governor Mark Gordon signed an executive order Wednesday establishing the Wyoming Data Center Development Framework to guide responsible development in Wyoming. The Executive Order, “Data Centers the Wyoming Way,” outlines a set of principles to ensure Wyoming remains competitive in attracting investment while protecting ratepayers, natural resources, local communities, and Wyoming’s way of life. The framework emphasizes water sustainability, wildlife conservation, workforce development, transparency, grid resiliency and stewardship, community engagement, and national security.
The Executive Order directs executive branch agencies to coordinate efforts related to data center projects and identify opportunities to improve regulatory efficiency, transparency, workforce readiness, and interagency cooperation. According to information from the Governor’s Office, the framework reinforces Wyoming’s commitment to ensuring that new data centers bear the costs associated with their power demands, while encouraging projects that provide long-term benefits to Wyoming communities, workers, schools, and local governments.
