Pedestrian Awareness Walk
Photos by Clint Wood
The first-ever Sheridan Recreation District Pedestrian Awareness Walk started and finished at the Sheridan Inn Saturday, May 30, 2026. The two-mile walk was in tribute to Australian Julie Fitzsimons and all other lives tragically impacted on local roads. Fitzsimons, 65, was hit by a car May 28, 2025, across from Wyoming Rib & Chop House in Sheridan and succumbed to her injuries in Sheridan Memorial Hospital.
The American Legion 7th Cavalry Drum and Bugle Corps led the walkers. This band, the only one left in the United States, was a favorite of Julies when she visited her daughter, Kate Gladden, in Sheridan. Kate and her father, Vincent, walked the entire route.
