The Sheridan Community Land Trust (SCLT) is inviting the community to slow down and take a closer look at the landscape during an upcoming Discovery Session focused on the plants of the SCLT Big Goose Natural Area.

SCLT is inviting “Flower Finders” and “Plant Peepers” of all experience levels to join botanist Bob Giurgevich for a spring morning exploring the natural area’s diverse habitats. Along the way, participants will learn how to identify local flowers, shrubs, trees, and other native plants while hearing stories and insights about the species growing across the landscape.

The walk will take place from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, at the SCLT Big Goose Natural Area, located at 14 Lane Ln. in Sheridan.

Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable outdoor clothing and sturdy shoes or boots and to bring water, sun protection, and bug spray. The walk will include uneven terrain and some off-trail travel. Organizers also remind participants that ticks, mosquitoes, and rattlesnakes are present at the site. Pets are not permitted. The Discovery Session is free and open to all. Click here for more.
