Jo Co Commission Cancels $1.5 Million in Noncollectable Taxes

Johnson County Treasurer Carla Bishop brought a list of noncollectable taxes to the county commission to officially remove from the county rolls.

The noncollectable taxes were from energy production in the county from 2008 through 2015 that were never paid by the energy companies.

She explained further.

Commission Chairman Bill Novotny discussed how the delinquent taxes happened.

The commission voted to remove the tax bills in the amount of just under $1.5 million from the county’s rolls.
