Sheridan Community Foundation Trying To Give Donation Recipients More Bang For Their Buck
A new community foundation is trying to maximize the immediate and long-term value of every single donor dollar it receives, and place it where it believes it will make the greatest impact.
The Sheridan Community Foundation held its first fundraising event on Wednesday, October 29th, as a way to introduce itself to the Sheridan County Community.
Foundation President Mark Kinner says the foundation is an organization that helps people of all means, determine the best way to give, based on their values and common desire to proactively build Sheridan County.
To put it another way, the foundation is trying to strengthen charitable giving, by offering philanthropic education to donors.
“We value anyone that wants to leave a donation of any size that could go into one of the funds for one of the nonprofits, or could go into what we call the general fund with the investment earnings over the years, going back to the community to try to take care of whatever needs exist at that time.”
Kinner adds the foundation has been around for about 2 years, but has not made a big push until now, so that members could get the foundation’s mechanisms and workings in place.
Among the areas that the Foundation will make gifts to, include arts and education, senior as well as youth services, recreation and open spaces and community focused nonprofit initiatives.
