A 40-year-old Worland man was sentenced to prison Tuesday in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan for the charge of Delivery of a Controlled Substance- Methamphetamine. Everett Newell was charged with the felony for selling methamphetamine to a confidential informant in October of 2018 in Sheridan. The lapse in time between his arrest and his sentencing was due to the fact that he had to be extradited from California.

Newell, in April, pleaded guilty to the delivery charge pursuant to terms of a plea agreement reached with state. Tuesday, Fourth Judicial District Court Judge John Fenn accepted the terms of the plea deal and sentenced Newell to 18 to 30 months in prison and ordered him to pay $1,700 in restitution to pay for the extradition to Wyoming. Judge Fenn also ordered Newell to pay $360 in various court costs and fees.
