Johnson County Healthcare Center CEO Sean McCallister, in his report to the hospital board this week, reminded them that the filing period for those interested in running for the board in this year’s election is August 5th through the 25th.

The board will go from six-members to five in January as the new board takes office.

He said the new 3D Mammography machine has performed 76 exams already since being installed earlier this year, and that 26 more are waiting due to the COVID-19 issue.

Operating Room Manager Tami Wolf has tendered her resignation for personal reasons.

She will continue to run the facility’s surgical services through August when they hope to have a replacement in place.

A new family medicine specialist, Dr. Sarah Sowerwine, will begin work at the healthcare center on June 29th.

The JCHC is still negotiating with Sheridan Memorial Hospital over Radiology Services and McCallister hopes to have that done in the very near future.

The COVID-19 Alternate Care Site, which was established at the Catholic Rec Hall early in the pandemic, is in the process of being dismantled.

It can be put up again if needed in the future should the virus become widespread in the community.
