The Sheridan Region Office of the Wyoming Game and Fish has announced the watercraft inspection stations in the Sheridan Region will expand days and hours of operations this month as the weather warms and boating on area waters increases.

According to the Game and Fish, Sheridan Region check stations are located in Sheridan at the Information Center and Rest Area on Fifth Street, near Beulah at the Interstate 90 Visitor Center and in Newcastle on Ranch Market Road one-half mile east of the junction of highways 16 and 85. Check stations also operate on a rotational basis at Keyhole Reservoir and Lake DeSmet. If your watercraft requires an inspection outside of check station operating hours, please set up an appointment by calling the Sheridan Regional Office at 307-672-7418 or contacting a private inspector

All watercraft traveling into Wyoming from March 1-Nov. 30 must be inspected prior to launching in Wyoming. Open stations are prominently marked with road signs. Anyone traveling with their watercraft must stop at any open AIS check station they pass while going to or from their  boating destination.

Game and Fish is asking the public to please note the check stations perform watercraft inspections but do not sell AIS decals. Decals can be purchased at license selling agents, at a regional office or through the Game and Fish website.
