National Police Week remembers those who fell in the line of duty

Sheridan Police Department Captain Tom Ringley made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to speak on National Police Week beginning Sunday, May 11, through Saturday, May 17.
The Captain said it was in 1962 that President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15, as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week.
National Police Week offers honor, remembrance, and peer support, while allowing law enforcement, survivors, and citizens to gather and pay homage to those who gave their lives in the line of duty.
Ringley said this year is of the utmost importance to the Sheridan Police Department as the name of SPD officer Sgt. Nevada Krinkee will be added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.

At just 33 years of age, Krinkee was killed in the line of duty on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024 while attempting to serve a trespass warning on a male subject in Sheridan.
His name along with the names of 146 other Law Enforcement Officers who died in the line of duty in 2024 will be added to the wall at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial to remind the Nation of their bravery and their sacrifice to the grateful communities they served.
