Council Grudgingly OKs Change Order for Tech Park

The Buffalo City Council voted to approve a change order on the Buffalo Tech Park Project, after a lengthy discussion as to why the change order was needed.
According to discussions, the $115,000 change order includes adjustment of roads and grading and moving power poles that were installed incorrectly and at the wrong locations by Rocky Mountain Power.
About $61,000 of the change order amount is the cost of dealing with the power pole issue.
The council considered waiting on the change order to contact Rocky Mountain Power to either move the power poles or reimburse the city for the additional costs incurred because of the problem.
Waiting may cause the contractor to miss their paving window if there are additional delays, which would further delay completion of the overall project.
Councilman Scott Madsen gave his opinion on the issue during the meeting.
Although none of the council members were pleased with paying the full change order amount, they ultimately agreed with Madsen that the project needs to move forward and voted to pay the change order.
