City Treasurer Provides Latest Sales and Use Tax Numbers
City of Sheridan Treasurer Karen Burtis, at Monday night’s City Council meeting, provided the Council with the sales and use tax numbers for the month of March. Burtis said that revenue generated from the sales and use tax has increased from this time last year, as well as year-to-date.
Burtis said that the 5.2 percent year-to-date increase equates to about an $81,000 increase. She added that next month, when the City receives the sales and use tax numbers for April, is when they will get a better idea of the impact COVID-19 has had on the City.
The sales and use tax numbers are typically presented to the Council at their second regularly scheduled business meeting and indicate the revenue generated from two months prior to when they are presented.
