In its tenth year, the Ignite Conference will once again focus on professional development for business owners in Sheridan.

Coordinated by the Chamber’s Business Retention & Expansion Committee, the theme for this year’s conference is “Spark Your Professional Development”, and will be held May 20.

Chief Executive Officer of the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce Teresa Detimore and Member Relations Director Bobbi Mitzel said this year will also include the “executive track” training that debuted last year.

Sessions have been developed to teach tips and techniques on leadership development and operating a small business. Detimore said the sessions were developed with every team member in mind.

With so much information presented, the Chamber has also developed techniques to help keep it all organized.

The challenges of owning and operating a small business are broad and numerous. Approximately 20% of small businesses fail within their first year of operation, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Only about 25% of small businesses reach their 15 year anniversary. The Ignite Conference is tailored to give small businesses the knowledge, techniques and procedures that small businesses can utilize to increase success.

According to Mitzel, the presentations and classes featured at the Ignite Conference cover concerns Sheridan businesses have shared with the Chamber.
