Pat BlairSheridan Media reporter Pat Blair looks back in time, over 100 years ago, to the impact of Spanish influenza as reported in the pages of the Sheridan Enterprise in 1918.
One death from influenza was reported today, Nov. 1, within the city of Sheridan, the only death for the 24 hours since noon yesterday. In total, six deaths have been reported county-wide since noon yesterday.
At least three candidates for offices in Sheridan county are foregoing their campaigns to fill vacancies on the volunteer nursing staffs during the influenza epidemic here. The three are Mrs. Blanche Alexander Rice, for re-election as county superintendent of schools; her opponent Miss Maurine Tschirgi; and John X. Morris, seeking re-election as county assessor.
Among the influenza patients at the emergency hospital is Dr. Thompson of Clearmont.
