Residents of Sheridan County and beyond came together on March 4, to take part in a Dining for Cause that set new records for the amount of funds raised in the program’s history.

During the event, all proceeds and tips to service staff from Frackelton’s Restaurant in Sheridan went directly to The Food Group to match a generous $55,000 donation from St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.

Executive Director of The Food Group, Keri McMeans called Sheridan Media and said the event was an amazing example of the generosity of people in the community.

Through this generosity of local contributors, the incredible public turnout and the generous $55,000 donation from St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, The Food Group will be receiving $121,387, well above the hoped for $110,000 amount.

The Food Group’s programs and the dedicated volunteers ensure nutritious food reaches approximately 800 children a week who may otherwise miss meals or go hungry entirely. Multiple studies have shown that children experiencing hunger struggle to focus, maintain concentration, and learn effectively due to the negative impacts on their cognitive abilities, making it difficult for these children to succeed academically when they are not properly nourished.

McMeans wished to thank every member of the community and the multiple organizations that came together to make this contribution to The Food Group happen. McMeans also wished to thank one person specifically, Dining for a Cause founder Kim Love.
