Code Ordinance Considered on First Reading

On June 28, 2024, the State of Wyoming adopted the 2024 International Code Council Building Code Family that includes theInternational Fire Code, International Building Code, International Fuel and Gas Code, International Mechanical Code, International Existing Building Code, and the International Plumbing Code. The City of Sheridan has six months from the date of the State of Wyoming’s adoption to adopt the same codes to retain home rule, which allows the City Building Department to review and approve building plans and perform all necessary inspections.

The Sheridan City Council approved an ordinance on first reading at their business meeting Monday night adopting the International Code. City Public Works Director Hanns Mercer.

The code ordinance must be approved two more times by the City Council before it takes effect.
