Jentel Artist Residency returning artists Frank Sheehan and Karen Marston and Residency Assistant Emi Whiting made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to speak on the residency and invite the Sheridan community to a unique collaborative exhibit at SAGE Community Arts.

Jentel is an artist residency founded by world renowned artist Neltje. Whiting said the program allows visiting artists an opportunity to explore, reflect, create and rest.

Along with Sheehan and Marston, returning artists Colleen Blackard, Amy Robson and writer David Naimon have reunited together after three years. At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, these talented creators met while attending a residency at Jentel.

Each artist had become fascinated with the setting of Jentel and created landscapes and other inspired works to reflect their own individual talents.

Now on his third residency at Jentel, Sheehan said he returns, drawn in by the location and residency’s spirit.

Marston told listeners Jentel changed the direction and intention of her work when she first viewed the surrounding landscape.

These talented artists have returned to Jentel to share with Sheridan’s residents the creations inspired by the area and each other.

Beginning Oct. 22 and running until Nov. 23, SAGE Community Arts will host the exhibit, Conversations of the Thousand Acres. This exhibit will feature the works of these reunited friends who are paying creative tribute to the beauty and spirit of the landscapes of the Jentel Residency and more.

An artists reception will be held beginning at 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct 24, giving people the opportunity to meet and speak with the artists.

This month’s Jentel Presents will also take place at SAGE Community Arts, 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29.
