Mayor reassuring residents of the town that Dayton is “as safe as it can be.”

To combat rumors, Dayton Mayor Clifford Reed has contacted Sheridan Media after he was briefed on the Elk Fire by officials of Rocky Mountain Area Complex Incident Management Team 3, who are currently battling the blaze.
According to Dayton’s Mayor both the town and the water source for the community is as secure from the fire as can be prepared.
Reed said Montana Dakota Utilities have no plans at this time to turn off any utilities to Dayton but may turn off services to Bear Lodge if the situation in that area worsens.
Reed said the Incident Management Team has provided the town with numerous firefighters who are working diligently to ensure Dayton is protected and prepared regarding the forecasted wind event.
Reed asks that the public refrain from sharing misinformation of social media sites and field any questions to the following sources.
