Volunteers of America Northern Rockies are providing Food & Basic Need Boxes in Sheridan and Buffalo every Wednesday.

The boxes will be provided from noon until 5 p.m. at the VOA administrative offices on Sheridan Avenue in Sheridan, and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the VOA parking lot on Lott Street in Buffalo.

The boxes are designed to help feed a family of four for a week, as well as provide some basic need and hygiene supplies for the family. According to VOA personnel, distribution of the boxes is planned each Wednesday for as long as there is a need caused by COVID-19 virus and VOA funding allows.

In addition to the Food & Basic Need Boxes, the VOA has created a new community outreach response program to help provide funds for those facing hardship due to the coronavirus disease pandemic. Funds can help meet special needs such assistance with rent and utilities and to help secure childcare.

According to the VOA, this is a rapid response program.

The community outreach response program has staff available from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Any resident of Wyoming is asked to call (307) 672-0475 to talk to someone about financial assistance.

In addition, the CARES Act has made additional resources available so that veterans facing homelessness can continue to get needed help. Any veteran facing homelessness can call VOA at 1-800-844-4VOA. Veteran services coordinators are available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
