HD 30 Candidates Final Statement

The two candidates running in the Republican Primary for the HD 30 seat are Gail Symons and Tom Kelly. Throughout the week we’ve heard their opinions and thoughts on property tax relief and the two factions of Republicans within the State Legislature, the Wyoming Freedom Caucus and the Wyoming Caucus.

In our final installment, we hear each candidate explain why they are running for the position. We’ll start with Symons.

While I admire Gail’s tenacity, she’s very bad at listening to other views. She’s a VERY divisive person. She is always promoting civility but I find her involvement being a participant in legal actions AGAINST the Republican Party at county and state level
    Abhorrent.

Gail, is a nativist bigot. If you weren’t born in a state she approves, she hurls that ad hominem attack at you. And she even extended that to ideas. She shoots down a proven property tax reduction idea (acquisition-based) because it originated in some other state.
We should be focused on policy, not the place of birth of people or ideas.

Gail may have been born in the Sheridan area, but she spent her entire working career in other states for 40 years, until she was able to retire. In this context, she’s not a “ local” in the literal meaning. She has probably been in residing in Sheridan full time for less time than Tom Kelly, her congressional opponent.
